CPCCLHS3001A Licence to Operate a Personnel & Materials Hoist (ALIMAK)

 

CPCCLHS3001A Licence to operate a personnel & materials hoist – Duration 2 Days face to face plus approximately 16 hours pre-work.  This course must be conducted at CSA site only, a personnel & materials hoist is installed at our site.  Note:  This licence also covers you for a CPCCLHS3002A Licence to operate a materials hoist also.

(A Learner’s Workbook must be completed prior to the course in order to meet the course nominal hours.  The Learner’s Guide & Workbook will be sent to you electronically at the time of enrolment).

Unit descriptor
This unit CPCCLHS3001A Licence to operate a Personnel & Materials Hoist specifies the outcomes required to operate a builder’s hoist in which personnel, goods and/or materials may be hoisted, and which comprises a car, structure, machinery or other equipment associated with the hoist, and which may be a cantilever hoist, a tower hoist or a multiple winch operation. Included in this definition are situations where winches may be configured to operate as hoists for the transportation of personnel for licensing purposes.

 

ELEMENT
PERFORMANCE CRITERIA

1.   Plan work.
1.1. Potential workplace hazards are identified.
1.2. Hazard prevention/control measures are identified consistent with appropriate standards to ensure the safety of personnel and equipment.
1.3. The hoist is appropriate to the load/s and workplace conditions.
1.4. The weight of the load is determined according to procedures.
1.5. Appropriate communication methods are identified with appropriate personnel.
2.   Conduct routine checks.
2.1. Hoist is visually checked for any damage or detects.
2.2. Appropriate hazard prevention/control measures are applied to the work area according to procedures and potential hazards.
2.3. Service logbook for the hoist is checked for compliance.
2.4. Routine pre-start operational checks are carried out according to procedures.
2.5. Main power supply is switched on.
2.6. Hoist is started according to procedures and checks made for any abnormal noises.
2.7. All controls located and checked for serviceability.
2.8. Post start operational checks are carried out according to procedures.
2.9. All communication equipment, lighting and alarm systems are checked for serviceability.
2.10.  All hoist safety devices are tested to their maximum according to procedures.
2.11.  All damage and defects are reported and recorded according to procedures and appropriate action taken.
3.   Conduct hoist operations.
3.1. Hoist is operated according to procedures.
3.2. Communication methods associated with hoist movements are conducted according to procedures and the appropriate standards.
3.3. Loads and load distribution are continually monitored to ensure that the hoist is operated within its capacity according to procedures.
3.4. Hoist movement is monitored constantly ensuring safety to appropriate personnel and hoist stability.
3.5. Unplanned and/or unsafe situations are responded to in line with procedures.
4.   Shut down and secure personnel & materials hoist
4.1. Hoist is shut down according to procedures.
4.2. All fences and gates are secured according to procedures.
4.3. Routine post -operational checks are carried out according to procedures.
4.4. Power is isolated and secured against unauthorised access.
4.5. All damage and defects are reported and recorded according to procedures and appropriate action taken.
